Virgina DeLuca, Director
Virginia DeLuca grew up on Long Island, New York, one of seven children, the youngest of whom has Cerebral Palsy. Having grown up with a brother with special , Ginny knew that she wanted to work in the medical field and with children.
She received her Registered Nurse training at Boston Children's Hospital School of Nursing in Massachusetts and has worked with special needs children & families for over 35 years. She worked as a Nursing Supervisor at Easter Seals of Southeastern Pennsylvania where she was responsible for the clinical management of school clients and families, mentoring student nurses, and took a leadership role on many committees & boards addressing issues such as the design of a community-based universal playground, school district AIDS curriculum, and community disability awareness. In addition, she acted as a consultant for local school nurses caring for children with special needs. In 1998 she earned her Board Certification in Pediatric Nursing and added a new hat to her role at Easter Seals as an independent evaluator for premature and high risk infants. She was also a CPR/First Aid Instructor for Healthcare Providers & focused much of her trainings on responding to emergencies involving children with special needs.
Ginny retired from Easter Seals in 2009 when she and John, her childhood sweetheart and husband of 39 years relocated to Brentwood, California in order to be closer to their sons (& now grandson!), who reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. She continues to work part-time & semi-retirement allows her time to enjoy many volunteer activities and to indulge her passion for reading, cooking, hiking, and spending time with family (including their 2 "old lady" dogs) and friends.
